Anyone tell me if inside vwt25 1982 watercooled diesel 5 speed should have at gearstick base a slope plate or early flat plate i know that early air cooled had slope plate away from driver but not sure about water cooled also at the rear which vans used the bellows .i tryed today pushing a set into the metal cups but found it all to tight maybe there is a smaller nylon ball available .lastly the plate which screws to gearbox which the linkage runs through is diesel and petrol different as I have two now both slight different.trying to get right set up for disel 5 speed as my van was a mess.thanks

There are variations but not much. I presume you've looked in the WIKI under 5-speed linkage overhaul?

And why start a second thread within 20mins of your other one, given that its all based around the same subject?
