Non VW - Viking conversion on a Mitsubishi L300

When I saw this advert I first thought somebody had grafted a VW Viking roof onto this van, but it looks as though the fibreglass roof fits the van shape too well for it to be a bodge job. The hob/grill and fridge are the same as my (contemporary) Viking, and the worktops and brown vinyl trim certainly suggest the conversion was done by the same people - presumably Motorhomes International.

Just thought it was interesting. I wonder what other vehicles they used as a base.

Conversion companies would/will convert any base vehicle of your choice. Obviously certain layouts only suit certain sized vehicles but bog standard 'commercial' vehicles tended to be much the same size. Note the Hiace and L300 are also rear engined making them a cheap(er) conversion prospect than a VW of the time.
