Fixing rear seat cushions.

I'm about to attempt to make new cushions for my R and R bed, I know that the Velcro that attaches the current ones is not safe if I use them as proper seats with belts etc - how do you all attach yours?

In what way is the velcro unsafe? No one could make ours move with the 2 inch velcro holding it down.

From what I understand it is possible that in a crash the seat cushion can become detached and shoot forward pulling the passenger with it. Something to do with the down and forward force. The cushion covering websites all seem to have disclaimers. I agree that the Velcro seems secure but I'm not a crash expert, and surely the Velcro is just glued to the base?

Nah,cusion is irrelevant, item with greatest mass is you or a person, seat belt will hold you if fitted correctly, take more notice of packs of tissues, wetwipes ,crisps etc as these can do major damage when flung fwd,lol

MM,
I think Sunnybus is worried with the back seat passengers sliding forward under the seat belts and hanging themselves as the seat cushions slide on the seat base.
We have used a bit of 2" wide heavy duty velcro glued to the base about 4" from the front edge of the seat and a corresponding bit stuck the the fabric on the base of the seat, I would have sown it but I cannot get the covers off to get it through the machine. I don't think it will slide as I have a real job to peel it off.
The back cushion is held with a length of 1" wide .
Hope that helps

Whilst I have 2 brand new expert fitted 3 pointer belts I think I will beef up the cushion fixing, the current Velcro might be 33 years old after all, and I'm keen to keep my nippers safe. Thanks for all your comments/ advice. :0)

Or, depemding on setup you could add a small rail to front of seat that is just enough to keep cushion in place without being felt, or even add ties to rear of cushion.
