Hi all,

Just wondering what type of jack people use for their T25?

I don't have the original T25 jack that would have originally came with the van (I know I should really have one for breakdowns etc)

I have a 2T trolley jack which I've had for years, but the max lift on it is about 350mm, and even with a block of wood or two... Doesn't lift the van enough to get the wheels off the ground! I don't like packing it up too much incase something slips.

I've been looking at possibly getting a bigger 3T trolley jack, which lifts upto around 520mm, which would allow enough lift to take the wheels off

The van has lowering springs on, which were on the van when I bought it (its not much lower than standard, possibly 20mm). Would this mean the van needs to be lifted higher to get the wheel off the ground? (and render a proper T25 jack useless??)

The lower your lowering springs then the less height you will need on the jack to lift it, ive got a 2t low slung jack from when i had me really low hillman imp and i can get my van off the ground and mine is apparantly on -60mm.

Ive got the standard vw kit but this looks a good bit of kit, has some nifty accessories as well

Must have quite a high lift on your jack then?

Just had a look at those hi-lift jacks - look good... But would it actually work on a T25?

The lifting arm is only 11cm long, but because of the shape of the side of a T25, I don't think it would fit under with the jack still standing vertical lol!?

looks to be using the original jacking points but looks like the lifting arm has been fabricated?

its probably quite high tbh, i jack on the wishbones which helps.

Not sure about that dodgy looking chap in the video...

The lifting arm does look longer on Jed's... not sure if it's been modified... just dropped him a pm

Best all round jack to have with you, very stable, quick and a high lift

The bottlejack I've got is a Wickes own-brand one, and it does the van just fine.

The standard jack in my Shogun's a very similar bottle, and I know that Merc Sprinters use something similar, too.

Will have to double check my ground clearance

Bottle jack seems a good way forward... good lift (especially the screw-out type)

Small enough to keep in van for emergencies, and good enough for maintenance

Lol! A jack by itself is ok to swap over a wheel etc, but whenever I'm doing anything else, I never rely on just the jack itself.

I always use axle stands, and I got an offcut of a huge roof purlin (about 12" x 10") which I plonk underneath somewhere as an extra precaution

Bit big and heavy to keep in the van

I have to carry an 8 ton bottle jack for my Merc - it is around 4.5 tons, anything less won't lift it and even then I have to use a 3 ton trolley jack to lift the rear axle after the body to get a rear wheel off the ground! A T25 is a piece of cake compared to that, I usually use a smaller 3 ton bottle jack for that. I find that cut down scaffold planks are ideal for spreading the load whatever you use if you are on soft ground/tarmac.
