A day full of surprises

A sunny bank holiday Monday...surprise
The van starts first time... A bit of a surprise (she had been standing for a few weeks)
Cadover Bridge has parking spaces ... Can be full on a sunny day......surprise
Nice walk, nice picnic, pack to move on and shut the sliding door - it comes away at the rear SURPRISE
Had to call the mendyman (hadn't taken any tools) and with the aid of the Haynes manual borrowed from the driver of the T25 next door (another surprise) we got it remounted.

Still not sure how/why it got detached in the first place - any thoughts?

Is it possible that the v- shaped pulley (part of the hinge assembly) has split in 2 and you've not noticed? The same thing happened whilst I was visiting someone on here recently. Just a thought.

Turns out it was the upper roller - it shouldn't be in two halves, replacement on order and door hung again! At least this time it fell apart at home and enabled me to work out which bit had failed.

Question, when reassembling the door should I grease the centre guide rail, or not...there is no sign of any grease or dirt that would indicate this had been done in the last 25 years of the vans life (all of it)

I wouldn't grease it myself because this just causes muck to stick to it. Other folk may do so.
