Distributor vac advance fail

One from the archive. I had a distributor on a DG that failed the "suck/blow" test after it refused to start or idle.
At the time I just swapped the distributor, but in a quiet moment took a flap wheel to the vac capsule to see just what had gone on.

The black debris is the remains of the rubber coating from the (nylon?) diaphragm, which had torn at the obvious crease around the 10 o'clock position close to the central boss.
