Oil cap seal

My oil cap lacks a seal, ETKA suggests it shouldn't. Lots of oil around, from various sources, one seems to from the filler pipe. Pipe seems to be okay; am suspecting cap. Don't expect it's expensive, but getting down from the mountains to obtain these things is always a project, especially for an engine that is on its way out.

I'm just wondering if oil really ought to be finding its way to the top of the filler pipe with enough pressure to get out of a tightly screwed-on cap?

Grateful for any info..

Sound slike you have got a lot of crankcase pressure from somewhere, either the piston rings / bores are heavily worn, or the breather system is blocked. Take off the plastic mushroom that sits on top of the rocker cover (it just pushes into a rubber) and see if it is blowing hard from there.

JUST HAD A THOUGHT - the engine you`ve got in your van isn`t a JX is it? Have you got the correct crankcase breather fitted to the rocker cover?
