Alternate Heater Matrix?

Decided to go for the dash removal challenge!
I'm fitting a new heater blower in my T25 (1985 Transporter 78PS).
Got the dash out today & the heater matrix looks a bit rough, was thinking it's a good time to replace it but new ones are £190 on Just Kampers!!

Are these the only ones that can be used (251265313C & ZSB251265303C) or can a more common and cheaper alternative be used instead?

Hope it all goes back together.............

They are only £135 from Brickwerks! Although they are out of stock at present - email them to see if they are coming back in soon. (Why do people go to Just Krappers, I would have thought that everyone on here would know their reputation by now?)

I like the way you say 'only' though. I think I'd be the same and find another more readily available matrix that will fit. Put it this way, you can pick up a brand new T4 matrix for £20. Most seem to be around that price for other vehicles.

It won't fit it does show the price tag associated with the T25 one. I think JK ask £189! There have to be alternatives out there. Get the measurements. As long as another matrix fits the space and you can join up the pipes with only a little fettling, thats all that matters.

Right shape - need to measure difference: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-ESCORT-1 ... 3f22c1e02d" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Can you measure your matrix?

One here for £2.20 if you want to take a gamble http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Escort-Orion- ... 43ca39167a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well it is 'only' compared to just krappers! :D
I am sure that one from another vehicle would fit, it is just finding it or having the time to find it. A contact at Marston would be handy.

We don't make the prices up! we buy them, put a modest mark up on it and sell it.
We don't have massive adverts in magazines and fancy warehouses and a million staff or offer free postage.
I can sell you it for £190 and give you free postage if you want!?
Or, you can buy it with our modest mark up and you pay for the postage....

:lol:

:wink:

You're quite right. I would think its down to the limited production run for these things. After all, there can't be that many T25 heater matrix units up for replacement at any one time on a global basis, particularly when you compare it to more common vehicles where the sheer volume and probably competitiveness keeps prices at a more affordable level. I doubt very much if my heater matrix has been replaced since the vehicle was built. Says it all really.

I always felt that classic Beetle parts were pretty cheap but then there were so many, they would be. I'll never forget the fella in my local garage showing me a handbrake cable for a rare but modern Vauxhall model that was over £150. I couldn't see anything complex about it or that might explain the ridiculous price tag attached to it - other than the fact that they were only made in very limited runs. I think if I owned said Vauxhall, I'd be selling it sharpish. :D
