I'm going to invest in some new tyres after winter for my Syncro for its big trip into the Artic Circle.
Its a 14 inch model on Carat alloys.
What makes and sizes do people recommend?

If u are sticking with ure 14inch then use BFgoodridge tyres is all terrain or mud.
U whont get a better tyre for a syncro in that size.

Do you know what the actual tyre sizes should be? I've struggled to find the sizes i need on the BF Goodrich site.
Any idea what sort of price i should expect to pay per tyre?

also to bare in mind is they do 3 ply and 5 ply, guy had problems balancing the 3 ply tire, very little balancing on the 5 ply,so go for 5 ply

Mmm... I am looking at some "winter" tyres at present.. didnt know the BFG was available...
But one thing to consider.. the AT's are designed to work in a wide range of temps.. but not down to -15 and less....
A good brand "winter" tyre might be a better option..
I am looking at some of the scandinavian tyres and also the Goodyear Cargo Vector Ultragrip (bit of a mouthfull) in 205R14... although the problem is they are directional so should have a set of 6....
may have found a couple of other options too.. or go to 15" rims to get a wider choice...
Oh... just reread it... "trip after winter" so my comments are useless then.....

14" BFG not available in uk and they (BFG UK) are about as helpful as a toilet with no seat or bog paper ime.
205R14C Try Marshall 857s, good quality mid budget, with good warranty. I've found them to be very nice, about £50 each fitted, check out tyres direct website

During winter months I use a set of 'bfg 14" all terrain' on my van here in Sweden. Work superb on snow but can be quite tricky (but good fun) on the ice. Most people use a 'dubb deck' which is a metal studded tyre. If I need to change I'll probably buy these instead. Don't know they're available in uk though. It's also law to have 'winter' tyres between October and May. Should have a mountain/snowflake symbol on them I think. If you're stopped by Police it's one of the first things they check. Not sure where/when you're heading but hope this helps.

Hi Terry, i'm going next July so i'm hoping there wont be too much snow there then!
I'm currently running Semperit Hi-Speed's which i've got nothing bad to say about but i'm pretty picky when it comes to tyres so i'm probably going to go for some BFG's (possibly at the same time as a new VC (just as a precaution!))
