Hi all, new to here as I have owned my t25 for 2 weeks. I have been told it needs a new carb but am struggling to find one, it's a pierburg 2e. I was wondering if all pierburg 2e the same? For example, would one off of a 1.3 polo work in my van?

I would think that they differ by having wrong jet sizes, etc. Why not buy an overhaul kit for it from Brickwerks or Gower and Lee? That said, there's no point in doing anything should the throttle spindles be worn so these will need re-bushing. There's a firm in Essex who I believe do all this work. No doubt somebody here will point you in the right direction.

As said will be jetted differently

lots of different 2e variations you really want the t25 one

So tell us
What has happened that somebody has decided to junk a carburettor?
has it ..
broken into a million pieces?
melted?
had concrete poured into it

there is very little that can't be fixed on a pierburg.

Cheers for the replies peeps. Thinking of sending it off to have it rebuilt. Apparently there is a plastic bit on it that has snapped so not sure a refurb kit would do the trick!? Anyone know any companies that rebuild?

It's also running ridiculously lean and then can't get it to richen it was 0.2 % the other day!

Bromyard have good reviews but if you want your van for summer may not be an option as they take several weeks

is the broken plastic bit part of the auto choke by chance? The plastic link deep inside is prone to failure this isnt really a problem in summer if it is

Other plastic bits are all replaceable, you should be able to get it going with a brickwerks rebuild kit or choke pulldown or 2nd choke vac unit depending on whats broken

or if money is tight get a main gasket off ebay, clean it on the outside, split it clean it out and blow jets out for starters.

co is just set on idle and is adjustable not an isue really if its lean on idle

what other symptoms do you have?

Which plastic part? I have a boxfull of pierburg stuff.

It is indeed part of the auto choke . So main symptoms are that it won't idle at cold but when it does its pretty irratic but is fine after 5 mins once warmed up. Think there is also a slight judder when reaching higher revs in 1st 2nd and third, not major but I'm sure there's a little something there. Will cruise along in 4th at 55 60 though quite happily.

The garage said about the plastic part of the auto choke being broke but then also seemed concerned that it was running lean and that adjusting it didn't maker it richer.

Saw the rebuild kits but would they have the plastic auto choke part in them?

It's part of the auto choke

No plastic part doesnt come in the kit
You could try the wanted section for secondhand, not sure i have seen them sold new
i bought a second hand junk carb and took the bit out when mine broke

looks like this but as i say in summer just let it warm for a while then it will be ok, as kevtherev says airleak could be the lean issue

I don't know if you visit VW shows, but the main ones are a great source of spares like this.
