hi folks, failed mot :( ,one front shock absorber but will replace both, also front upper suspension arm ball joints, one worn and the other s got a split rubber, ive looked at wiki and Haynes, looks to be two hexagon bolts and nut underneath,my question is do you have to remove the wishbone and hub or can they be done without disturbing these, thanks in advance for any help, laurence.

Wishbone stays put. Put plenty of plusgas on those allen bolts a few days before you start. When old balljoint is off and new one on stub, ensure top of balljoint is right against wishbone and holes lined up before trying to screw in bolts as its possible to crossthread. A screwdriver will help you line up holes.

No idea what year yours is but if pre-85 you'll need to tap the bracket that secures the brake hose to one side so you can gain access to balljoint nut.
