Pierburg carb rebuild

So my carb rebuild kit has arrived from brickwerks.

I think I know what I am doing, lol. Any tips or advice from someone who has done this already? I have a 1.9DG with a pierburg carb, sure it's 2e.

Clean the outside with petrol or paraffin and a paintbrush first :ok

Thanks I get the cleanliness, and methodical element. I plan to take plenty of pics too.

I am worried about undoing something I can't redo! I am aware of the problems I could run into if I "adjust" anything intentionally or in intentionally?

Having only looked at it from above with the air cleaner off, should I avoid removing the three brass tubes?

Hi thanks itchy!

Do you know how to remove the float needle?

I cleaned the outside, and I have taken a few bits off, thinking of soaking in petrol or carb cleaner, is that the right thing to do?

Got the float out in the end.

I have taken it apart as far as i can there a few o rings in the b'werks kit but am not at all sure where they go?

I haven't taken the spindle off that attaches to the throttle cable and operates the butterfly valves, should I?

There were pics of removing the float in my link
I havent taken the main spindle out not much you can do if its worn I don't think there are seals in there but I could be wrong

Going to have to get a pic up of those spare seals

Right, it's all back together and running great! Started and revved really high at first, but put that down to alot of carb cleaner still in the carb.

Took it round the block, then the next block, then up a 10% gradient, all works. Feels quite different, revs don't immediately drop when I take my foot off the pedal. Feels like it has a bit more poke.

I was still left with a small gasket and a couple of o rings but I am assuming, (hoping) they were for other parts and it was universal kit....

That would be the fast idle mechanism on a cold engine... probably working for the first time!

Mmm, ok but It did rev really quite high...... I flinched for a moment and thought about turning it off.

I'll try it again tomorrow from cold and see how it goes...

Ah right, ok.

There was one very small screw with what looks like three adjustable steps on it. It was on the end of the throttle spindle. Thought I had it wrongly adjusted. Is this the cam you mean?
