Need advice please ppl....Whilst changing my rear brake shoes on my 91 T25...a lot of the retainer springs etc needed replacing...no biggi...just time lost. But the handbrake cable adjusting nut on the primary cable had seized The final result..the bar that holds onto the equalizer snapped.(goes through the equalizer and holds with with the adjusting nut)...So, good old Just Kampers to the rescue sent me out a replacement. Great...Haynes manual says disconnect from the handbrake end and slide out....not so great. The replacement has a large rubber 'Boot?' that seems to fit snugly into a cavity?.mid cable..with it connected you cannot slide the primary cable in or out..or take the old one out as it seems to be held with a rubber 'Boot'...Do i need to remove the fuel tank to replace this section?...I can't work out how it comes free and how to replace it without dropping the fuel tank..and i'm worried that if i undo more bits, i get more bits rusted and breaking (despite lots of lube).any one have any advice or experience with this?

yep tank out I'm afraid to replace the whole lot. Or cut the threaded bar and either weld a new one on or get a female threaded tube to attach a new threaded bar on to the end.

Thats what i did threaded bar and welded it on to the exsisting

If you don't have a welder, then use a 6mm rod joiner and a new piece of 6mm threaded rod

I was gonna weld a bit of threaded bar, in the end i took the tank off, but the van was off the road anyway so there was no rush to get it done, it is a pita to take the tank out,

Fantastic advice guys....Purchased 4" of M6....had to buy a tap and die set to put a thread on the remainder of handbrake bar..and final purchase of a M6 connecting rod with 2 locking nuts at either end to be sure..Final cost of apprx £20...Just Kampers will be seeing a £65 Handbrake cable heading back their way ..without removing the tank
