Removing the driver's seat

Hi, we've recently bought a 1985 Transporter (right hand drive, 1.9L, Autosleeper hi-top) and are completely new to the exciting world of VW campervans! We're very relieved therefore to have come across the Club 80-90 website and this incredibly helpful and informative forum (blatantly hoping that flattery will help to lubricate my path to enlightenment as far as all things VW are concerned!!!)

I'd be grateful therefore if anyone could let me know how I can temporarily remove the driver's seat. The booklet that came with the van shows front seats that have three levers but ours only have two. The one that is "missing" is the one that has to be used (in conjunction with one of the others) in order to remove the seat! Does this mean that the seat can't be removed?!

I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks, Tony

T ....
im sure you will get better than this .. but..
I have just had mine out + back in.... real easy.. there are the two handle thangs.. one recline one shifty bacck+forrad .. and then on one side only a little like tiny lever thing you have to pull to release them from the FRONT of the runners...
Get them to the very front so u are up to the dash as far as poss' then look for the tiny metal lever tab thing.. push lever .. slide out foreward to dash.... bingo.....
If you have no joy.. and no one does a better method statement, i will take photo + mail u with the little lever whatsit ........

Thanks Georgedog, I've just managed to finally locate the tiny little metal lever by the "hinge" of the seat - very discrete and took some finding!

Thanks again for your help, Tony :D

Thanks Kev. We've been looking through the Wiki a few times over the last couple of weeks - it's great!!! Will remember your advice about appropriate forms of bribery!
