Heating not very warm

I fitted a new fan unit behind the dash and reconnected everything up. Im not sure i reconnected the two pipes on the side for water in and out the right way arround. The heating is not getting very warm now where before it got hot. Also the vents on the front of the dashboard only come out cold, again not sure this is how it was before.
How do i find out which way round the pipes should go and could the reason for it not getting hot be that there is air in it?

The two vents at each end on my van on front of the dash are only ever cold, no matter what the other vents are.

Most likely just needs bleeding. It can take quite some time to get all the air out.

I have a 1.6 d and the heating works fine once the engine warms up. Sorry I cant be of much use

has the valve become disconnected from the heater lever?

I had to google what the valve was. (The plastic thing under the van conected to the second of the levers)
I will try to check tonight by removing the spare and looking with a torch.

When we first bought our camper the heating wouldn't turn off, upon further investigation I found that a previous owner had refitted the valve so that when the lever that controls whether the valve was open or not was being fouled by a jubilee clip preventing the valve from fully closing. Maybe your valve is restricted the other way and being prevented from fully opening. I just loosened the jubilee clip and turned it round a little so the lever on the valve could travel its full sweep. I would bet that there is an air lock in your system somewhere though.
