Hi All,

I have not been on here for a while because our van has been storage since October 2013, having had a new gearbox and clutch fitted following good advice received on the forum in August 2013.

We have Annie a 1982 Type 25 Westfalia Joker 2.0 litre petrol air-cooled van which is left hand drive.

We are considering having power steering fitted in order to make the drive easier., We have noticed adverts for lite-steer electronic systems in magazines retailing at £895.00 fitted. We wondered if anyone had any experience of this system and where it might be fitted. We also wondered if fitting an actual mechanical power steering rack would be a better idea, what the process involves, what the cost might be and who may provide such a service at a reasonable rate and turnaround? We are based in West Yorkshire and are looking for someone fairly local.

Also we have had a problem with warm fumes coming into the cab from behind the dashboard which have caused us to have tight chests and sore throats, despite driving with the windows down. We also have hot air coming from the vents behind the seats. We have an eberspacher but do not know how to work it.It has plus and minus signs and what looks like a clock but we do not know how to get a display.Any solutions to this problem would be appreciated as would information re a good local specialist. We are in Brighouse West Yorkshire.

I looked around the forum but could not find specific answers.

Thank you

Darren and Wendy x

I had one installed by lite steer it's the best improvement I have made to my van finger tip steering totally effortless. They have agents all over the country now for fitting or you could fit it yourself not that difficult to do.

Re: the fumes coming from the dash board

this could well be the heat exchangers corroded through inside, so the exhaust gases are getting into the fresh air that is being sent to the cab
