Why is this dripping oil? (Quick reply plz...on the road!)

Sorry I'm becoming TOO regular on here!

Topped up the oil today before our trip to Wales, then this started dripping...

Have I overfilled it and this is an overflow? The pipe looks like it should go somewhere as the end is not cleanly cut.

But I've not noticed it before.

Haynes manual is surprisingly not helpful. We are now on the road and I want peace of mind.

A quick reply would be much appreciated so I can judge how many bottles of oil I need to buy.

P.s. It sits just behind the bellows thermostat.

That looks like your fuel pump. It's pretty low down on the engine so any spilt oil or leaks from above it will tend to run down to the lowest point. To be sure try to clean off all the oil and confirm where the leak is. Worst case scenario is that the diaphram in the pump has failed and the oil is bring pumped out of the vent pipe. (and / or petrol is being pumped into your sump.)

Ok. I'm not sure I can do anything whilst away. Just stopped at a services on M25 and of course the oil has now been blown all over the bottom of the engine. So drips from all over now.

As long as it's just a matter of topping up, then that's cool.

Just weird it's only just started after I filled it up. I think I've overfilled it without thinking as I was on an incline.

Could that have contributed?
