If you are going to a warm country check that your Thermostat is opening on an Aircooled. After going up miles of steep hill with hairpin bends in 1st gear for long distances to Andorra in 30C my brakes failed temporarily going down into Andorra with rock face on one side and rails on the other.. Cause was overheating of brake pipes. When I got home checked my Thermostat and found it had never been working since I had it. Engine 'failed about a year after. Guess that in this cold country its not so important.

There isn't a thermostat on the brake pipes?

If...and it's very unlikely it would happen..but if there was enough heat in the engine bay to cause the brake fluid to boil and loss of brakes the system would need to be bled to restore the them to working order again...sounds more like the pads overheated to me...
