Help! T25 gearbox replacement North Yorkshire

Help needed - anyone know of a garage in North Yorkshire that could replace a 1982 Aircooled T25 gearbox at short notice?

An old repair on the gearbox housing - the bracket that holds the bushing pin that locates the rear end of the gear shift rod - has failed. Bracket and pin have fallen off and are lost. Now unable to change gear. I can crawl under the van and select gears by hand, so limped 3 miles in 2nd gear to Wrens of Rydale campsite near Helmsley.

Home is Perthshire, but I need to be working in Yorkshire this week, so prepared to bite bullet and pay for replacement to be fitted down here, if possible, rather than get trucked home and take ages doing it myself.

Alternative to new gearbox is some blacksmithery type bodge to weld/bolt on temporary bracket and pin, but as gearbox housing is aluminium, not sure this would work.

Any suggestions gratefully received!

hi just back from north yorks. have seen a split with its ass in the air outside their place. you will need to enter from the main coast road a171, the hill out of egton is a 3 in 1 so I wouldn't try getting up it 2nd gear only. the lady cross camp site is a 15min walk from the garage

Many thanks for the info guys - will check out that box for sale. Have decided to forget work, and head home for repairs.

Bodged a temporary repair by pushing a big screwdriver through a spare suspension bushing and lashing it to the side of the gearbox with roof rack strap, seizing wire, and piece of cord. Now stopped at Alnwick for coffee, and it seems to be holding up ok.
