I am looking to buy a Syncro Doka and wondering what is the largest wheel size/tyre size combination I can use?

I have seen standard buses/dokas on 16" ML wheels and big tyres and no clearance issues.

I want to use an OEM alloy wheel (Porsche/Mercedes) and wondered if a typical set from an Cayenne/ML would fit. I appreciate studs/adapters may be needed. Its more the size issue I am interested in.

Ideally I would like to fit an 18" set with AT tyres. Is this possible?

Anything is "possible" but 18" will be no use of road....
So if its just to "look hard" it could be done...

on a 14"... 215/75-15 are considered the ideal biggest size, with 225's a max option... 16" IIRC would take a 225/70 16 (I think thats what busman runs)

What size tryes are you thinking of running?? not a lot of option in 18"... prob only low profile I should think!!!

I was wondering.

Ideally I would like a balance between looks and practicality. I've never been one for steel rims to be honest and the truck won't be getting any serious offroading - some greenlaning sp? and round a few dirt tracks/soggy campsites here and in europe.

I suppose a lot will depend on the ride height, but its a 14" I am looking at.

215/75/15 for off road on steels and 225/70/15 on 7J alloys. If you want pics of what that looks like I'll send you some. Dont go down the route of spacers on a syncro cuz there is enough stresses and strains on the running gear without adding to it.

Please send a picture with the alloys.

I've done some checking and here is the result:

15" alloy wheel, 225/70 tyre - rolling radius (696mm)

17" Mercedes ML wheel, 255/60 tyre - rolling radius (738mm)

18" Porsche Cayenne wheel, 235/60 - rolling radius (739mm)

It a bit odd that something as small as an ML has a larger wheel/tyre combination but I suppose I will have to rethink.
