Getting Back On The Road

Have finally decided to get my van back on the road after it being laid up for approx 5 years 
Grateful if anyone could help out with letting me know of anything in particular I should do to it in this case. My list so far:
MOT
New Battery
Oil change
Coolant change
Brake Fluid change
Auto Transmission Fluid change
It's a 1989 2.1 DJ Wasserboxer Automatic in generally good nick, and the coolant was changed with the G12 stuff shortly before it was stored.
I will be taking it to a mechanic to do most of this (not a VW specialist but someone I have used for years) - but he is not where the van is - Do you think it would be OK to drive it for 20 miles or so before changing the fluids? And if I should flush the coolant out or just drain and refill?
