Budget tyres.

The MOT man says I need new tyres on my T25 (185R14C 6 ply).
The present tyres are Michelin but are perishing. I do about 2000 miles per annum, or less.
I can't really afford new Michelins. Kwikfit offered "Event", but I'm hesitant about real cheapos.
Any suggestions anyone? At my mileage wear isn't really an issue, but safety is.

Seconded, even if it's just to beat KF around the head or take the hint to go elsewhere.

Camskill list Event at £42. Yes, that's plus delivery and you need to arrange fitting, but it's a good start to compare prices - and actually reduces the effective price difference as you go up the options, because it's a smaller percentage, since they're the same for Michelins as concrete/teflon Chinese ditchfinders.
Looking down Camskill's list, for around a tenner extra per corner, Avon or Uniroyal. No brainer.

Asda tyres seem to be listing some van rated tyres now
Just search 185/80/r14

This is a fully fitted price and they tend to be fitted at halfords autocentres and some other garages. Tyres are sent directly to the fitters. You just turn up to your appointment and can pay cash or card when they are fitted, not when you order.

Thanks, everyone.
My tyres are old ones, they just say 185R14C, no aspect ratio mentioned.
Does this mean the ration is 80?

Yep. 80-82% is the default if no ratio's mentioned.

Or, don't rule out part worns. My present set cost £10 each (8ply) with over 6mm of tread on still. I also have a brand new set of Michelin ZX's in the garage once those wear out, and I got all four for £120.
I've said it many times but plan ahead (six months or more) with tyres because if you keep looking you'll find just what you want at a price you can afford. The Michelins were for a project that fell through and the bloke just wanted rid. I grabbed them very fast. Leave it until you need some and it costs you then. And mine are 15" by the way - seem to be far more of those around which is why I upsized.
I work alongside money management experts so I'm used to thinking many months ahead and they know all the tricks. They're forever going off on luxury holidays that only cost a few hundred pounds. They just know where to look.
