Loose wires on the engine?

I've got a T25 with a 1.9 AAZ turbo diesel engine fitted.
Last summer, the radiator fan stopped, the van overheated - so I called the AA out.
The AA mechanic noticed two wires - a green wire and a brown wire - loose on the engine.
He wired them into the unit shown (one wire has come loose again). The fan still didn't work so I'm going to fit a new sender unit from the radiator.
However, the wires in the picture - are they going to the right place or where should they go?
