going to give my 2.0 Aircooled a major service.

Seems to be a lot of conflict regarding oil types just thought I would complicate things and ask what people have used in their motors?

I'm looking to use shell super helix 5w40

Oh where would I find the jack ? :?

Thanks

I use a Halfords 15/40 semi syth. I don't think 5W40 is right. The owners book calls for a 15w-40 or 15w-50 for ambient temps 0 to 30C, 5w-20 is for a lot lower ambient temps (-30 to +10C)
I am sure if you look for info on oil there is more to be found on here

There are a lot of 'suitable' oils and this is where the 'mixed opinions' come from. My opinion would be: a good quality 15W40 semi synthetic oil.
Other viscosities to consider would be 20w50 & 15w50... but that's it and those would be for higher mileage engines perhaps using or loosing a bit of oil.

You *should* find it under the seat, but that's only if a previous owner hasn't lost it.

What were you planning on using the factory jack for? It's only really meant for wheel changes, and it relies on the structure around the jacking points being up to scratch (which certainly isn't the case on many vans). You could well find you're better off with a two- or three-tonne trolley jack used under a suitable area.
