Clatter from the heater

In a previous topic in General Chat I said that I thought I had found the culprit to my occasional clattering noise from the front after I found a loose screwdriver on the front bumper. I spoke too soon as the noise returned. As the clutch master cylinder was being replaced a couple of days ago I asked them to investigate this noise especially as on the way to the garage there was a helluva clunk when a large lorry went by in the opposite direction. It rather confirmed that the problem was something loose being blown about occasionally. The verdict is that it is a loose valve? deflector? in the heating duct however the answer is remove it and that involves removing the dash as well. Does this sound like a common problem and is there a way to stop the clatter until I can find the time and money for the major surgery up front?

Cheers

Paul

Sounds like the cardboard deflector is loose by the radiator to me.
