Cleaning up my battery terminals and found a wire running to this, what's it for?! I've got a syncro caravelle GL spec 89

I should say this is under my seat and it points towards the passenger footwell, facing the front of the van

Aftermarket battery isolation switch. There should be a red key to turn it off & on

mike, it's isolation for the winch that was, at one time, on the front!

aaaa it all makes sense now and I don't feel so bad for losing the key!

does the van still work ????? or is it not wired in anymore? very handy think to have to isolate batterys

It does indeed
It's an isolation for the live feed to the front winch, which is no longer fitted. So it is now Isolating a feed to a device not fitted (i might leave it in, a red herring for a potential thief, or is it

).

You'll find the live and earth feeds somewhere behind the grill, all taped up.

I have the same thing but if I turn it off and take my key out the van doesn't start!
