JX 1.6 td injection order 1 3 4 2 ?

Hi all, having big trouble getting my jx to fire up after replacing cold start spindle seal. I had learned that the firing order is 1, 3, 4, 2, and meticulously replaced the injection pipes in this order.
But, as I say it was a non starter. Now I am thinking that maybe I have replaced the pipes in the right order but out of synch. A squirt of easy start fires the engine up right away but with no apparent fuel supply it promptly stops. the injectors leak fuel when crcked open . I was all set to undo the pipe to injector number one ( nearest to rear of van ) and check that fuel was sprayed when the engine was at close to TDC or thereabouts. However a friend now tells me that the injection pump might not inject the fuel in turn cyclically as the shaft rotates eg. as the pump rotates it may inject in the order 1, 3, 4, 2 but from say 9 o'clock then 3 o'clock then 12 o'clock and finally six o'clock.
Is this the case or even possible?
All help appreciated as my paracetamol bill is now approaching the cost of a pump!
