Faulty spark plug?

Right, gave the van a service this afternoon. Oil + filter, air filter, spark plugs, and fuel filter. I've done this dozens of times with no problems.

Went to start the van up and it wouldn't start without me pumping the accelerator wich caused it to backfire and it wouldn't tickover on its own.

I'm baffled as the timing and mixture was set up in February when I had the carb serviced at gasure, I checked the plugs where in tight, I did notice the manifold gasket needs replacing though, the vans been running fine with the faulty gasket (I'll be changing the gasket though)

Could I have bought a faulty spark plug/s

Thanks

Andy.

Have you tried pulling each plug lead off in turn to gauge its contribution to the engine....a good guide in diagnosing a faulty cylinder (plug/lead).

I had a single bad plug in a batch of 4 last year.
It was fine under power, but the van idled badly.

stupid I know, but it's been done many a time, and by better mechanics that I will ever be,

Leads on right cylinders?
