Fuel gauge and temp gauge needles

Well have taken my clocks apart to get the speedo/odometer working and that's now working so decided to take the other side apart as the fuel gauge needle and temp gauge needle didn't work as just sat in the bottom of the clocks. So how the hell do the needles attach to the two bits of metal strip inside both these gauges? I can't work it out for the life of me.
Anyone have any hints or a good photo of how the needle sits?

Not sure that I understand what you mean?
Do you mean the terminals on the back that the blue plastic PCB attach to or have dismantled the gauges to the point where you can see the insides?

The actual needle on the gauge has fallen off both, I can't work out how it goes back on, there are two thin strips that I assume it attaches to, just cant work out how

These are a couple of pics I have of when I changed out the capacitor in the gauge - is this useful at all

Managed to take a photo of my spare fuel gauge today. If you look carefully you can see how the needle is fitted onto the two spring arms, they hook into the wire square on the base of the needle.

Hope this helps.
