I can't seem to find any information on this but would some kind owner of a 1.6td tell me the length of there dipstick to the end, and the min and max marks ?
I think my dipstick is the wrong one.
Put 4.5 litres in it yesterday and it's only at the min mark.
I just want to be sure ;)
Thank you in advance.

Thanks for that :)
Seems my dipstick is the right length, time to see where my oil is going :(

Is the dipstick guide tube pushed far enough into the block?

Strange, if I fill to max level the oil drops to min level over around 150 miles ! No leaks that I can see or smoke !

I left it on min and have travelled another 90 miles and no loss of oil !

Dipstick is right length and tube is correct, I'm thinking the turbo drain tube is too full of oil and being used up in the turbo, once it's down to min level turbo can drain more freely.

The turbo centre seems to be cocked at 10 o'clock 5 I clock not directly upright, I'm wondering if anyone's turbo is the same orientation as it seems wrong to me.

I rebuilt the turbo last week and replaced it as it came off but surely turbo centres should be vertical to aid draining ?

I put on new drain tube and oil feed also.

My JX is pretty much the same. If I fill to the max mark its dropped to min by the time I've gone to the beach & back (140 miles), but it will then sit around there for a good while. The turbo orientation is limited by the length of the drain off pipe, as I found when I rebuilt mine, indexed it at 6 o'clock & found it wouldn't reach  I agree the 5 o'clock position looks wrong. I've had problems with smoke on start up when parked on an incline & put it down to oil backfeeding into the turbo due to the sump oil level, as it seems to sit quite high in relation to the turbo drain. Maybe a few of us have the wrong dipsticks? I was about to change the oil today & measure exactly 4.5 litres to see where it came to on the dipstick but my oil filters weren't in stock as promised when I went to pick them up (thanks eurocarparts  ) so it will have to wait until after easter now.

Yes I've just covered another 100 miles and it's not moved from the min mark.
Prob leave it there for the time being and see how it goes.
Also thought of having a drain tube made up at local hydraulic hose company near me to move the turbo drain to six o'clock position to see if it helps any.
