Sink pump has died

Hi all,

The pump for my tap has decided not to work anymore. It is operated by a button below the sink on off button.

I'm asking if anyone knows how many places there are to check/fix before I start taking the van apart.

It's a 1980 Aircooled Devon.

I'm not into electrics at all, so go easy on me....

Thanks,

Ben

Check the button works - find the wires to it, make sure you've got a +ve to one, and that +ve gets to the other when you press the button.

If that's OK, then it's time to find the pump, make sure that +ve is getting to it, and there's a good earth. If that's all OK, new pump. It's probably submerged in the water tank.

It might be a punp that sits inline, just outside the tank (mine is). Sometimes the impeller sticks and you just need to push it round with a screw drive to unfreeze it. Tank the pump out of the line and then put your screwdriver in and give it a twiddle. While you have it off, connect a +ve and -ve wire to it and it should buzz.
