Bought a new accelerator cable for my van and due to laziness I got the local garage to put it on for me.

The accelerator pedal is now sitting low and so there is not as much movement in the cable and consequently the acceleration/top speed isn't the same.

What have they done wrong?

Sounds like not adjusted correctly. I believe with pedal flat to floor, butterfly in carb should be fully open, with a little slack allowed. Adjustment is under pedal. Mine needs doing as well (cable stretch), so above is theory from haynes, haven't had chance to do it yet. HTH, Bri
