how long are Dizzy caps and rotor arms meant to last on average?

Good question

But I go on look.. if the "contacts" look eroded and horrid.. time to change, but they can be "cleaned up carefully with a small flat blade screwdriver... if not bad.. worth cleaning out with WD40 and dry paper toweling every so often though, to prevent tracking.

till you start having problems and swap out every part of your ignition system.

That was my point... if it looks horrid, then it prob is about done...
7 quid on a new one and 3 quid for a std beetle rotor.... job done..

just really trying to work out a service routine

ie oil change every 5k and normally clean the caps contacts

then major service prob every 25k, with brakes and suspension as needed

just wondering how long the average cap lasts 10k 15 20k etc

ie should i still be cleaning a cap that has done about 10-15k or just junk it and renew

not stingy just dont want to waste money

25k in my opinion is a bit long for brakes especially if not mant miles done in a year..... well worth it at 15k/once a year..

25k

Life of spark plugs probably 10-12000 miles. At one time vehicles had a major service once a year ie:plugs, points, oil, oil filter & air filter etc. then an oil change in between. Dizzy caps are only replaced when necessary & could easily last 50-60000 mlies. Rotor arms should last a long time & it's very easy to clean up the two contacts. At least we don't have to fiddle with points & setting them with feeler gauges.

Out T25s are obviously old vehicles & should be serviced accordingly, unlike modern vehicles with very long service intervals.
