ok got in the van this morning take kids to school and the oil light was very dim but was on so stopped engine checked oil looked fine was between 3/4's and max so put around 3/4's of oil in (which was left over from recent oil change 3 wks ago from a 5 ltr tub) and after around 5 mins the light went off
now my question is have i got a fault? and how much oil should be put in on an oil and filter change? cheers for any info ROB!!

min to max is only about 1/2 a litre,
if the level was at 3/4 why put more oil in? you have overfilled it and need to remove that excess oil asap
Oil light is nothing to do with levels...
If it is low pressure, the engine will blow up...
Dim light, would indicate to me that the wire insulation is cracked etc.. and dampness is "earthing" is enough (I have had this happen myself) Check the wiring from the switch and spray a bit of wd40 on it..
Get the oil pressure checked, just to be sure and prob a good idea to change the oil pressure switch in case its faulty..
Oh.. dont use anything less than a 15w40 oil and 4-4.5L is enough to fill to 1/2- max (including filling of the filterbefore fitting it)

yep, there is apsolutely no point in refilling to take the reading on the stick from 3/4 between the marks to full, just a waste of oil, time and energy, WBX's always run at 3/4, and if you fill it back up, it will be back at 3/4 the next time you look...and if its any good stay there till next oil change.....well mine does.
as Si says, cracked insulation, damp morning, then warm engine.......light dim, then after engine bay warms up goes off..... common....

I live in mid-Wales, had the same thing recently. It's probably just the rain.
