Yet another question !
Someone at work asked if I was having the waterpump changed when having timing belt done, in the past on an old VW Golf I did, but do I need to on this van ? Of course I have no idea of the age of waterpump, I have no heating/leak issues.
If it aint broke don't fix it sort of thing ?

Some of this stems from newer tdis where the timing belt turns the waterpump. Ours is run by the aux belt, so no real need.

Why do you say change it - out of interest's sake?

just being inquisitive...
where is the water pump ? Is it near the timing belt ? or about a million miles away !
and if I did change the aux belts which one ? (not the power steering) as there seem to be to different lengths for the water pump one ! 10x915 or 10x650

That reply was to the post above mine.

Mark hi,you do know that the water pump is not driven by the cam belt...so why change it?

It is not as though you have to remove the timing belt to do the waterpump and a pump failure is a gradual thing that will give symptoms that would allow changing before catastrophic failure.

Must admit I don't get the point of changing it unless it's faulty. On a car it's worthwhile as its easily accessible and for a few quid potentially saves a fortune in repeated labour charges. In this case it doesn't so why bother.
