I've got this far but can't work how to get the bulb out (the one by my thumb that look silver for some bizarre reason). Have a replacement ready to go.

Flippin heck, I am doing the same job today !!

It looks silver because it's blown.

I got mine out using a tool I have in my "electronics kit" which is actually a very fine but strong slightly hooked spikey thing that dentists use.

(library pic)

So I poked the spike down the side of the bulb and gently levered it out. I guess you could do the same with a nappy pin type thing, suitably bent.

Hope that helps.

Now, who can help me, I cannot find a source for the bulb !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was going to mod it for an LED (as of course this one is the only one of the 4 that is NOT an LED) However, all the LED's I have in my collection are too bright, and if you use a resistor to drop the voltage sufficiently, they don't work correctly.

So, anyone know where one can (easily) order a correct, standard hi beam warning bulb from ? (urgent as dash in bits at the mo  )

p.s. = Lets not get into technical conversations about LEDs here eh ;)

Can't help you with a source for a bulb but when I fitted a blue LED and it was way too bright - I lightly sanded the lense which helped to spread the light and makes it less intense. Worked a treat !!

Ran out yesterday, more in later today [Friday]
Should be back on the shop this afternoon.

Just had a few issues this end with updating software causing a few headaches, stock control hasn't worked for a couple of days.
All sorted now.

I'm afraid I don't make up our cost prices!
If you can find the same thing much cheaper on the aftermarket I'll gladly stock them, they are expensive granted but I can't control that.
We make very little on them.

No need for explanations Simon, wasn't having a dig.
Love you :ok (in a manly, bloke'y sort of way, I don't want to have your babies).

I still want to know how much a Go-Westy 2.4 motor would cost in the UK 8) :pimp

Just seen all these replies. Thanks for the help! Got it all sorted in the end. Found this post helpful if anyone else needs pointers, scroll about half way down http://vwgolfmk1.org.uk/forum/index.php ... =491776910" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Needless to say I got the bulb from Brickwerks (must have been the last one ;-)

Good stuff :ok

I put mine back together with a white LED (cause I had one), with an extra couple of resistors (total = 2K Ohms  ) and painted the led with blue paint  = OK for now, but will add a proper bulb to my next order off Brickwerks :)

Yes, 2K surprised me too :? Anything higher causes the LED to either flicker or not fire up at all. With the dab of dark blue paint, it is ok and might turn into one of those "when I get around to it" jobs that never actually gets done (re the proper bulb)
