I need a hug, and possibly a new engine

I had the buzzer of doom this morning. 'Oh no' I thought, 'the oil pressure switch must be faulty, it won't be the engine'. But I pulled over anyway.
Engine cut out as soon as I put it into neutral, and then wouldn't restart. Actually it wouldn't even turn over on the starter and it smelt really bad and was very hot.
So I waited for the AA
30 mins later I tried to start it again and it fired and ran. Hooray!! But man it sounded rough, clattering and banging like it was full of spanners, but I managed to move it safer place off the road. Also as I drove it the clutch and gearbox felt really bad all of a sudden too, big knocks thru the clutch pedal.
I'm guessing the oil pump has done a knacker, but a trip to the garage is needed to find out what other damage had been done. Anyone in the west mids got a spare DG engine?
