Side door pops open

Hi
I am wondering if anyone has some guidelines on how to adjust the side sliding door. The door closes fine and locks however when driving along it 'pops' open around a quarter of an inch. Enough to hear the wind rushing. Once on a motorway it even opened and we had to pull over to close properly.
My 8 year old daughter travels in the back and although unlikely she could fall out, it still freaks out my wife.
I have tried to adjust the pin but it's hit and miss. Hopefully someone has some more logical way of fixing this. Locking from the inside does not appear to help.
Thank you
Mark

There are two potential problems with your lock.
1. As ZsZ says, the latch may be worn. You can carefully reshape the latches with a file to make them slightly more hook shaped. Not too "hooky" or you won't be able to open the door. This picture shows exactly where the problem is, but you'll have to suss out the right shape for yourself!
2. The lock gets slightly stretched so the latches don't engage properly (the open channel gets wider) and can be closed up by squeezing carefully in a vice.
The lock can be removed without taking the door off.

Aaah, this certainly makes sense, and explains why adjusting it doesn't help.
I'll try to take the lock off and have a look at the wear.
I gather the two 'hooks' with the arrows in the photo above hook together when closed? If they are worn they pop apart?
Thank you both for your replies and guidance.

may help

The wear as indicated above is very likely the culprit but its also a sign that you prob need to do a little maintenance all round and get the sliding door running sweet.

Thanks for this also. I'll check these out tonight and put some time aside to give the door an overhaul.

Hi, thanks everyone. Now sorted.
Colinthefox had the solution, all I had to do was squeeze the lock together with very large grips. This was done in situ without removing the lock at all.
Went away for the weekend and it did not pop so thank you again for advice and suction.
