I've been having starting problems since refitting my engine which has gone from being a fuel starvation issue to an electrics issue see https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=128934" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yesterday I removed and cleaned the thick earth straps at the battery terminal and gearbox / chassis which made no difference. Is there any way to check the functionality of the starter while in situ? I'm guessing I can check if it's getting enough juice by connecting a multimeter but after that it's either taking it apart or getting a new one right?

A quick check to eliminate an earth fault would be to connect a good quality jump lead from the alternator bracket to a good solid part of the chassis. This acts as an extra earth so if the starter then works you know it is your old earth leads. the old leads can be corroded internally especially the braided ones.
