i have just got hold of some sliding windows for my t25. i am going to over haul them and want to paint the frames black (currently aluminium) will etch primer do, sprayed over with black?

should be ok because of the acid catalyst, but if in doubt ask your local paint shop or auto paint supply gaff.

I have had good results with (I kid you not) "Plasticote Barbecue Black" spray paint on aluminium, no primer or anything, just sand the alloy to key it and spray it on. Available from B n Q amonst other places.

The B-B-Q Black is a great SATIN black, not shiny gloss and not that `orrible matt black that looks grey. Really nice finish to, I found it by chance as a dead match for Yamaha motorcycle satin black heatproof paint. Good on your rear silencer as well to tidy up the rear of your `van.

Mask 'em up.
Use a red scotch pad or similar to give them a quick fettle, don't go too mad as you will break through the anodising, the anodising is what stops the plain ally ones going all manky like unprotected ally does.
Use some "Etch primer" or "Acid etch" as it's sometimes known, this will bite into the metal ang give he top coat something to stick to.
I have done a few this way with excellent results, I used some satin black too, the U-pol trade aerosols from good motor factorys are recommended.
