This is Boycey. She's my first camper and she's been named in memory of my mam.



I got her in November so haven't had much time to work on the body yet. I've fully rebuilt the aaz engine (separate thread) and I'm in the process of cleaning up the engine bay before I refit it. Pics to follow.

I've never welded before but I'm going to give it a go. I plan a full refurb with a few mods.

Plenty of pics to follow and any tips and advice will be much appreciated.

Mam wasn't called boycey, it was my nickname I called her. She always said I was a strange boy!!

And I didn't think wallpaper stripping would be required!!

I've been under the engine bay for a couple of days now. Original soundproofing removed.
I don't have a sand blaster so I've had the grinder and wire drill in all the nooks and crannies removing as much rust as possible. It seems to be built up in layers so a quick bang over with a chisel removes the big flaky bits first.
A good coat of vactan and its all going to be covered in the same colour rustoleum as the van.





This is going to be one of the worst jobs to do so I'm glad I'm nearly there!!

Just a few questions on rustoleum. I've read the wiki but wanted a little first hand advice:
- can you roller it straight over vactan with sanding back first?
- does it keep ok if you mix a full tin up with thinners and then store it in a larger container?

I know that sounds like such a stupid question. It's just that the vactan is so smooth, I didn't know if the paint would bond to it sufficiently

Got my first coat of paint on the engine bay.



I've gone for ral 1013 - light ivory, and I'm doing the full van in it! It really is good stuff that rustoleum, a little goes a long way. I've put the first coat on with a brush to get right into all the nooks and crannies.

I love the colour. It looks better than on the colour charts.

Is it possible to but the bottom of c pillar?
I can't find them stocked anywhere.
