Hi,

just thinking of security, years ago my dad you to fit a switch under the dash that if you didn't flick it on the engine you to turn over but never start.

I cant remember how he did this. Any advice how I can do this... seems simple but effective deterrent

An easy solution, but also not the hardest to get around, is a '+'ve battery terminal with a switch built in:

It's also got a bridging fuseholder so that your radio and clock won't reset every time you engage the switch.

I haven't used one of these, but the logic seems sound enough ?

Not going to fool any hardened criminals, but quick and easy to install.

Ive only just realised (had the van for a couple of weeks is all) that under my drivers seat I have a red 'Hella' key. It's red plastic and I'd never though much of it but it turn out that if I remove it basically kills the connection to the battery and the van won't start. Put it in and it starts first time.

Not really sure what the system is. Or what it's called but I'm sure it's something else you can reaearch?

Sounds like a simple isolator in the battery +ve

That's exactly it. Chees bit another option for the OP too

Although the 'key' for those is universal and theres every chance a would-be T25 joyrider may carry one. Better to disrupt the live to the coil and hide the switch so well, they'd never find it.
