Hello bollards welcome to the forum. I'm not familiar with the westy layout but does the fridge have a sight glass so that you can see the flame? (if it lit)
can you hear the "ticking" of the spark?

Fridge can take ages to ignite from cold, especially if it`s been off for a while. There is a very small sight glass in the bottom left hand corner inside the fridge, you can just make out the small blue flame once lit, but it`s hard to see, and the glass may be dirty.

Hi,

I find that if I am having difficulty lighting it, then lighting one of the stove burners first helps. You might find that you need to keep the fridge button pushed in for somewhile after the first spark (if you get a spark) before it is hot enough to keep alight.

Check this: My gas has a splitter that diverts gas to the fridge and cooker. I can choose to have no gas delivered to the fridge by turning the tap on the splitter. Have you got this?

It is also a hands-and-knees job to see whether you are sparking, you will have to adjust the little mirror until you can see it (I need it just a fraction above fully down).

Hope this helps,
Chris

The ticking will continue until the flame heats a thermatic switch.

some times these fridges need a good clean at the back as the flue or the burner jet gets blocked.

the start sequence is well known...I presume you are pushing in and holding (hold for 15 to 20secs) in the regulator on number three as the spark is ticking.

if this is the case and it doesn't light on setting 2, or setting 1 even. then the fridge may have to come out.

bollards wrote:. It also has an air pump that has to be operated before attempting to ignite (I assume this is to create the correct air/gas mixture).(

Air pump?

thats a new one on me :D
