Hi, Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced, easy to fit car alarm ? Some scumbag prised open the louvered windows on my van last night and let themselves in. Fortunately there was nothing of value inside and I have been able to put the glass back but I would like to put a motion sensor of some sort in the van. Any advice would be appreciated.............

Ive just bought a hawk alarm off ebay.
30 squidd delivered.

Seems to do all sorts of things.....but supposedly 4 wires to set up the very basic operation.

Uk support too....ive emailed a few questions and they respond rapidly...

Ive yet to fit it though.

I fitted a Hawk HA 240 Lite to my recently acquired van (£32) and the instructions are clear. My main problem was getting my head around the VW wiring diagrams (I'm used to old British classics and Lucas stuff). The key is understanding the connections to the relay/fuse board, once you've cracked that its pretty straightforward. I bought an additional central locking kit for about £15 because the hawk has an output to it. My van has multiple keys as it must have been broken into several times before necessitating the replacement of locks. Now I just use the alarm remote to open the doors
It's not a good idea to openly discuss alarm/immobiliser installations for the sake of security, but please feel free to pm me if you need any advice.

We're down your way at the end of the month. My kids can sleep in your van. No one will want it then!
