Yes :D

Got this for the heads as one of mine was cracked, the heads were 1998 casted in and Polish rather than from Germany as the origionals were.
Everything about this engine says to me vw recon, i may be wrong, i'd like to know also, what other reconditioner would stick two brand new heads on in 1998? Also thats a vw logo with a recycled logo isnt it?
It had a snapped head stud which has now been replaced so i'm going to get it going again when i can find a good head.

No but you can see that from the stroke, stick a bit of stiff wire down the plug hole and turn over, may not be totally accurate but close enough to know which one

mine is dg

week45 2005 = one of the very last vw wbx engines built in poland
the only way to tell is to measure the stroke, they had a paper label to distinguish which was which

That's how I would read it, if you check the heads they may have the initials of the builder and a date stamped on them by hand by no 1 and 4 exhaust ports

yes normal 4mm manually stamped on the side of heads facing the outside of van, you may need a torch and a mirror

So - to conclude...my engine is of unknown capacity - (have to measure stroke) and was rebuilt by VW in Poland towards the end of 2005...

it fair goes...that's for sure. :D
