Advice please,

I intend to have the panel and step replaced on the drivers side. I notice Scholfields currently have some genuine VW complete steps at £220 or pattern ones at a fraction of the cost. Is it worth paying the extra cost? The current one in the pic is a horrible mess of filler and looks better in the pic than reality. The metal it attaches to is sound.

genuine one will at least fit !,just make sure the B post is sorted and the arch is welded on correctly (applies to either type)
