Mudflaps

I have decided to splash out on a full set of mudflaps because,

1) We live in the muddy countryside.
2) I think they will look cool on our white Tin-Top with the big tyres / alloys, black trims and black roof bars

I really don't like the thought of buying from JK, but in their Ad (HERE) they do state that these are genuine VW items

Brickwerks do them of course but their ones (HERE) are quite a lot dearer

Anyone had any experiences with buying and fitting either of them ?

I'm the same john, been one of those items I've wanted for ages. The brickwerks seem to be fitted different, but as you say the price is a big jump. :(

Or depending how fussed you are fleabay do a pair at £7.50 a throw http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.vi ... 1112036537.

No idea on quality, or how well they'll fit etc (obv. not genuine etc) but I'll probably buy those and at that price if there naff you can throw them away.

Esp Scott who is happy with his JK ones, I might give JK another chance then on this item ;)

Struth never realised bits of plastic could vary so much in price. You can buy lorry ones for less. I've not found I needed any in practical terms. but I'll admit they can look nice if you've blown a few grand on a paint job and want those finishing touches. For now I'll stick with bits of carpet nailed on. :rofl

Can see why you want some though John - would set yours off nicely.

And now I read about "South African" style ones (though I have not yet found any pics that clearly show the difference).

Plus I note the Brickwerks ones don't have the white VW logo on them, and I want that

JK winning so far

Hutch bought a set of rears from me last week - don't think he would have taken them if he wasn't happy with quality. They were originally from JK. I have a set on my van and am happy with them - fronts good too, easy to fit. I don't know what SA ones are like, maybe the same.

I got a pair of used flaps for £20. It was the first thing I ever got.

Though my arches aren't the best so I self tappered them as I didn't have the clips (which no doubt rust and fall off anyway)

These are the JK South African ones.

They offer protection to the wheel arch edge from gravel rash. The European ones only really stop you throwing stones at the people behind you.
Use a hair dryer to soften the plastic when you fit them so they mould nicely to the body, I applied some Waxoyl underbody schutz to the wheel arch where they fit first to ward off any moisture getting trapped behind them. They do stop a lot of crud hitting the bodywork.

Thanks Herb, they look good (and your van looks just like mine :) (mine has the addition of some new black Thule roof bars).

Would you think these are the same as yours then = http://www.justkampers.com/t25-mud-flap-set.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
