LDA Pipes 1.6td JX

I've searched long and hard, but cannot find anything that references how the LDA connects via the piping.
(Not even sure what LDA stands for, to be honest)
But- I have what looks like an air pipe coming off the side of the LDA and it has a splitter around six inches along and one of the pipes goes back through towards the front of the van.

I'm asking because the splitter had come apart, but hadn't appeared to make any difference to the drive or engine at all. I've connected it back up obviously, so not a massive concern. Just wondering

On the inlet manifold near where the rubber hose connects on to it there is a tiny nipple/outlet.

On the injector pump look at the metal canister that looks like a small can of beans , maybe 5cm x 3cm, this has a similar nipple on the top.

Connect these two nipples with a length of appropriate hose :ok

i'll post a photo to show you if I can get out tomorrow. it is connected up, but its a pipe that splits into two and buggers off somewhere up the van !
Is this some sort of vacuum arrangement.? What is the LDA unit doing ?

LDA is German for L...... Something something something.

Basically, when boost/positive pressure is created , the LDA introduces more fuel to make use of the boost. Where boost isn't a constant unlike throttle position say, it is a changing variable. The LDA sorts this out.

If its T'd off and goes to front of the van, have you got a boost guage fitted maybe? :ok

LDA is short for LadeDruckAnreicherung means something like Boost Pressure Enrichment :) works as described before.

on the picture above the black arrow there is the canister and the rubber hose connected to it.

Not sure what you are trying to do here, connect your LDA?

I have experience with this part, I had mine fail here in Canada where I may have one of only a dozen or so jx engine on the continent. I ordered a new part from Germany and it took 2 months to arrive.

I will tell you it is important. without the LDA your engine will run lean when boosted...anytime your under load, up every hill and will get hot. The longer and steadier the hill the hotter it will get till Wham your overheated. Replacing mine FINALLY solved this steady overheat issue.

It is just a mechanical part attached to the boost (with the hose), and the injection pump (with a pop-in ball joint) there is a plunger and when the boost is up the air pushes the plunger and gives more fuel. It also has another little pipe on it that is a vent for any oil leaking from the Turbo and will spew out all over the top of your engine if you get a serious leak...had that happen too.

Not sure what you need help with but perhaps I can help
