12v fuel pump pressure? whats yours set too?

Bit of an odd one and I may be misguided but

The mechanical fuel pump on the camper has never worked since I got it, no problem I'm quiet happy with the 12v one but what pressure should I have the reg set to? haynes manual says the mechanical one ranges from 1-4ish psi? makes sense as the pressure would increase with the revs right?

Now I get 25mpg out of my 2.0 Cu unit, could this be down to the fact its always been set at 1psi on the reg and when cruising on the motorway its a bit gutless because its not getting sufficient fuel flow? i don't think it can be because its never sputtered or shown any sign its running lean other than after a run on motor way the oil light will flicker at idle (crazy idea but if its running lean it'll run hotter, which in turn will thin the oil and she'll loose pressure) not had a chance to check the plugs for that yet but will do asap

Any ideas much appreciated! :ok

No the pressure is governed by a spring inside the pump, just volume increases with revs.

Normally the regulators are set at 3psi
