Hi ,
My sliding door has a problem, it looks like the (bowden?) cable between the handle and lock has come apart.
Im guessing its actually snapped , but the presence of the threads if confusing me no end. What do people think?
Im having trouble locating a picture (and a spare part). If this is a rare item and/or v difficult Im thinking it maybe worth trying to find someone to weld it.

Take it off from the left end end at the catch then just screw it back together fully on the right - it looks like someone has adjusted it by the wrong piece and it was just hanging on the last couple of threads. The threads to the right should be done up fully with the adjustment being done with turning the rod on the left whilst undone at the far left catch, loosening and re-tightening the locknut as required. You could put a dab of threadlock on the right hand threads to stop it undoing but shouldn't be needed.

I'm having a lot of trouble disconnecting it at left hand side of the catch. Tried some penetrating oil but no joy. Any tips?
Just to be clear. The catch we r talking about is the piece that connects left and right rods together. Not where the rod meets the spring (left) or right (handle). They seem to held in place with rivert bolts

I have a different cable on mine as it is a later van. But mine you just remove the circlip from the pin and the cable eye lifts off the pin.
You need to read section 58 of the Bentley manual - it is all in there (in reverse as it is for left hookers)
